I have now cleaned and waxed the playfield and under all dirt I found an almost perfect playfield. There are just three spots with some wear, the snack bar hole and the spots in the in lanes where the ball lands. I added mylar patches to protect the in lanes and a Cliffy protector for the snack bar hole. During the reassembly, each part is carefully cleaned and polished before it goes back to the playfield. It’s very time consuming and there are a lot of hours work before the playfield is complete again.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I saw a picture of a CFTBL with purple post rubbers at the Internet and decided to use the same color at this game. The only sad thing is the incredibly ugly tapered rubber to the left of the snack bar hole. The game is designed with this rubber at this position, but I think I will replace it with a purple rubber and supply the tapered rubber in a bag in case the owner would like to switch back. I just have to check if this causes the ball to be more prone to drain between the flippers in case it doesn’t make it the whole way up by the car queue and rolls back down again.

 

The old flipper bats weren’t broken but incredibly dirty, so a new pair with super bands was required.

Of some reason the CFTBL is designed without light in the pop bumpers. This makes it very easy to disassemble the bumpers for service, but on the other hand it’s a cheap and easy mod to add the light. I couldn’t resist doing that and the new lights are connected to the three flashes in the playfield. It’s easily reversible in case the owner do not want it, or if it should be restored to original during a future restoration.
